    PFP is a two-way exchange program designed to build lasting partnerships between mid-level emerging leaders from foreign countries and the United States. Participants are placed in short-term fellowships in nonprofit organizations, private sector businesses, and government offices across the United States. American participants who have hosted PFP fellows later travel overseas for participant-driven reciprocal programs. Promising young professionals are afforded the opportunity to gain practical experience in, and exposure to, US government, innovation ecosystems, and other topics depending on their professional background.     American Councils Latvia opened its doors in the capital city of Riga in 2015. Set on the Baltic Sea at the mouth of the River Daugava, Riga is home to nearly 700,000 individuals (one-third of Latvia's population). It is also the largest city of the Baltic states. Considered a cultural center due to its many museums and concert halls, Riga is also known for its wooden buildings, art nouveau architecture, and medieval Old Town.
