American Councils Stands in Solidarity with the AAPI Community

American Councils for International Education strongly condemns violence towards the Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities in the United States. The racism, xenophobia, and gender-based violence that led to eight recent deaths in Atlanta, Georgia and the hateful attacks on elders and other members of the AAPI community in the United States are a stark reminder of the urgent work that needs to be done to address the bigotry and injustice faced by so many in our country.

At our core, American Councils is an organization dedicated to increasing mutual understanding and respect for other cultures and peoples through international education and exchange. Whether in the United States or abroad, these opportunities form connections that transcend distance, languages, and cultural differences. These hateful acts of intolerance, discrimination, and violence contradict our values as both an organization and as global citizens.

American Councils stands with our Asian AAPI participants, alumni, staff, partners, and community members and strongly condemns these horrific crimes. #StopAsianHate
