Through an initiative focused on innovation, research, and development between Poland and the United States, AC is pleased to join the newly launched PLUS-IP program.

American Councils for International Education is pleased to join the newly launched US-Poland Innovation Program and Council (PLUS-IP), which seeks to foster stronger ties between the US and Poland, specifically in the sectors of energy, health, science, and technology.

The PLUS-IP program will promote bilateral cooperation between the United States and Poland on research and development innovation and privatization, increasing the links between the countries' academic, industry, and venture communities. The program aims to connect researchers, business leaders, and entrepreneurs in Poland with their US counterparts in similar areas of expertise and economic development.

American Councils for International Education President Dr. Dan E. Davidson on the launch of the new innovation initiative said: "The US-Polish Innovation Program is an ideal platform to explore common areas of regional- and university-focused research and development, while never forgetting the role that startups and entrepreneurs play in making these initiatives successful."

Dr. Davidson will serve as the program's US Co-Chair of the Regional Industry and Regional Innovation Clusters subcommittee. Along with his Polish colleagues, Dr. Davidson will work on developing a model to accelerate partnerships in research, academia, regional government, and business and to serve as a model for sustained US and Polish engagement.

A European economic success story, Poland is the United States' largest commercial partner in Central Europe and bilateral trade between the two countries has quadrupled in the past ten years. Joint research and development projects will cement this connection and create an environment for government, business, and academia to thrive and share best practices.

Krzysztof Krysztowski, President of Polish Clusters and the Polish Co-Chair of the subcommittee, said at the PLUS-IP launch, "Our goal is to learn from our US partners and make use of existing and successful cluster partnerships. Information and aviation technology represent Poland's strengths, and we are open to collaborating on biotechnology, science, and industry initiatives."

American Councils is supporting regional cluster initiatives around the world, working with partners like the US-Russia Bilateral Presidential Committee to connect Russian universities and their regional governments to US universities and their surrounding communities through the US-Russia Innovation Corridor program.
