NEW YORK CITY — The Institute of International Education (IIE) honored AC President Emeritus Dan Davidson with a Centennial Medal for his commitment to international education, during a recent ceremony in New York City.

The award was presented at IIE’s annual summit, which convenes nearly 600 leaders, influencers, and practitioners from education, government, business, philanthropy, and media to discuss the future of international education.

Dr. Davidson, who currently directs the American Councils Research Center, was honored to receive the award, established for IIE's 100th anniversary.

“The Institute of International Education has been a pioneer and a vital partner in international exchange for students, scholars, and institutions around the world,” he said. “My colleagues and I at American Councils take great pleasure in saluting IIE on this major anniversary event and in thanking you for the Centennial Medal in recognition of our long-standing partnership.”

Dr. Davidson is joined by fellow esteemed recipients of the award, including NAFSA, the British Council, Philip G. Altbach (Boston College), and Assistant Secretary Marie Royce of the US Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

IIE’s Centennial Medals recognize organizations and individuals who have contributed to the field of international education through government service; academic exchange leadership; global mobility leadership; philanthropic excellence; and corporate support for the advancement of international education and relations.
