Uzbekistan’s Rising Professionals Build Skills and Strengthen U.S. Ties Through Internships

Young Professional Internships Program (YPIP) Summer 2025 Impact

In August, 90 young professionals completed 12-week internships with 35 companies across leading industries including fintech, engineering, energy, and IT.  They are part of the fifth cohort of the Young Professional Internships Program (YPIP), funded by the U.S. Embassy in Tashkent and implemented by American Councils for International Education.

Thirty-five U.S. and Uzbek companies benefitted this year’s YPIP cohort--talented, English-speaking young professionals who contribute new ideas and advance projects. By hosting interns, companies strengthened local and international business networks. Many found the experience so valuable that they extended job offers and created sustained roles for YPIP participants.

A mutually beneficial program, YPIP participants also experienced significant professional and personal growth. The vast majority of these young professionals discovered new professional opportunities and feel more prepared to enter the workforce. Longer-term surveys support the value of YPIP, with 1 out of 10 YPIP alumni finding success in working at American organizations or with companies affiliated with the U.S.

In addition to full-time internships, YPIP provides specialized professional development through mentorship, tailored trainings, and field visits to leading U.S.-Uzbek companies, including Air Products, Coca-Cola, Wings Distribution, and EPAM Systems.

Since its launch in 2020, YPIP’s alumni network has grown to 250+ accomplished and high-achieving leaders and innovators. This 2025 cohort is no different – and reinforces YPIP’s importance in preparing young professionals' long-term success that benefits both Uzbekistan and the United States.
