American Councils has been named one of the "50 Best Nonprofits to Work For" in the United States for the second time. The honor was announced in the April issue of The NonProfit Times, which featured the publication's fourth annual list of the top-ranked employers in the nonprofit sector.

Created in 2010 by The NonProfit Times and the Best Companies Group (BCG), this annual award program invites nonprofit organizations from across the US to enter this competition by providing detailed data from both the employer and employee perspectives. Employers are asked detailed questions about the organization's workplace policies, practices, and demographics. Employees are then surveyed about their satisfaction, perspectives and experiences in eight general categories: Leadership and Planning, Corporate Culture and Communications, Role Satisfaction, Work Environment, Relationship with Supervisor, Training and Development, Pay and Benefits, and Overall Employee Engagement.

"Organizations that make the list have been successful in creating unique cultures where employees love to come to work," said BCG President Peter Burke. The nonprofits that made the Best Workplaces list scored an average 89 percent favorable rating.

"American Councils is very pleased to be ranked amongst the top non profit organizations in the United States as being a great place to work. This is the second time we have received this honor. Our staff is such a critical part of our operation. Their dedication to our mission, global perspective and expertise help to make us an innovative organization, while expanding our activity throughout the world. American Councils works hard to create an environment that rewards performance and commitment to mission," commented Dr. Dan E. Davidson, President of American Councils.
