    YES Exchange alum Moiz Rehan is helping young students in Pakistan's rural area of Pallandri learn English. Moiz is a member alum of the Workshop for Youth Leaders in Teaching English, an enhancement opportunity offered to select students and is sponsored by the US Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

    During his time in the US, Mwalimu (YES '12) from Kenya realized that access to clean water was vastly different across countries. In particular, the bright young scholarship student was struck by the number of water fountains in the US where the water is fresh and clean compared his Kenyan village's man-made dam, riddled with diseases like malaria, in which people walked miles every day to gather water. Mwalimu knew he wanted to bring fresh water to his coastal Kenyan community.

    As a part of a sister school exchange, Chinese students from No. 6 Middle School in Yichang, China visited Sonoran Trails Middle School in Cave Creek, Arizona, with the support from the Teachers of Critical Languages Program (TCLP).

    This July, six Japanese students and an educator from Tokyo's Keio SFC High School traveled to Washington, D.C. for a two-week exchange, where they lived with host families, as part of the TOMODACHI US Japan Youth Exchange Program.
