The Uruguay Teacher Exchange Program is a short-term, mutual exchange opportunity for U.S. and Uruguayan K-12 teachers. The Uruguay Teacher Exchange Program provides a professional development opportunity for U.S. and Uruguayan teachers to work together on issues of mutual interest to their communities, schools and students. U.S. participants host their Uruguayan counterpart for two weeks (homestay) in February and then travel to Uruguay the following summer for two weeks. This program is fully funded by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), U.S. Department of State.
Hosting Component: With the guidance of the ES staff, U.S. participants create an agenda individualized through collaboration with their partners. Travel Component: U.S. participants travel to Uruguay for an orientation in Montevideo and then join their Uruguayan counterpart for the duration of the two week exchange.
