Politics and Public Diplomacy in Contemporary Russia
While events in Russia since the 1991 dissolution of the Soviet Union have often filled headlines and captured the attention of western observers, few have a full understanding of their meaning, their causes, and their larger social and historical contexts. This five-week summer program is designed to give participants new insights into Russia today. Through readings and intensive coursework in the form of lectures, seminars, and discussions conducted with faculty of Moscow International University, program participants gain a fuller understanding of the complex factors that have shaped Russia's evolution since the Gorbachev regime and the final days of the USSR.

Peace & Security in the South Caucasus
The South Caucasus have taken on unprecedented strategic and political importance for Russia, NATO, and the US in recent years. While rich in natural resources, scenic beauty, and vibrant cultures, the region continues to be hampered by age-old conflicts and political instability. Based in Tbilisi, Georgia, this five-week summer program explores cultural identity and nationalism, development strategies, the emergence of new political systems and parties, and ongoing efforts to foster peace throughout the region.

OPIT Internships
Through OPIT's six-week, English-language internships, students gain the substantive overseas professional experience and intercultural communication skills demanded by today's global market. Participants can choose a placement in a variety of fields, including business, democracy building, human rights, education, science, technology, gender issues, journalism, public health, environmental protection, and social services in 16 countries in Southeast Europe, Eurasia, and the Baltics.

Eurasian Regional Language Program
