Over 300 Kyrgyz students gathered to learn more about international education opportunities at the latest education fair.

Interest in study abroad is strong in Kyrgyzstan, as evidenced by high attendance at the International Education Fair held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan this past fall.

The fair attracted 300 high school students, university students, and adults interested in pursuing education abroad. Attendees had the opportunity to receive individual consultations as well as to attend presentations on opportunities to study English, how to prepare for US university entrance exams, and how to apply for study abroad programs.

The third annual fair was hosted by EducationUSA in collaboration with more than 13 local organizations representing study abroad programs in the US, Asia, and Europe.

The fair is a key event in Kyrgyzstan for increasing awareness in the country of US government and privately-funded education programs, such as EducationUSA, the Future Leaders Exchange Program, the US-Central Asia Education Foundation, and the Fulbright Program.

During the fair, the Kyrgyz EducationUSA representative was interviewed by a local television station. She noted: "International education is an interesting topic for people in Kyrgyzstan, as people are very interested in gaining access to education, particularly to international education. We want to give the opportunity to high school, university students, and professionals to learn more about these opportunities. I think there is a lot of interest in these opportunities as evidenced by today's turnout."
