EducationUSA Armenia welcomed new students to their local college club and in Ukraine, local alumni of US colleges participated in an open mic night to answer questions about studying in the US

Armenia
EducationUSA Armenia welcomed a new group of Competitive College Club (CCC) students this spring. Students from high schools throughout Armenia will participate in events during the academic year to strengthen their applications to study at US colleges and universities.

CCC students will participate in lectures, book clubs, community service activities, cross-cultural exercises, and test preparation all conducted in English. The activities ensure that students are properly advised as they prepare academically and socially for a US college or university, while determining which schools might be a good fit.

Stephanie Gevorgyan, a new CCC student, feels the club is essential for her future academic career. "It is important as it will introduce the ways and processes of US educational system, develop my skillset, and most importantly prepare myself to achieve my dream of getting an education in the US," she says.

The CCC students also have access to a new scholarship opportunity through the Opportunity Fund, thanks to a partnership between the US Department of State, EducationUSA, and American Councils for International Education.

Ukraine
This past March, two EducationUSA representatives traveled to Ivano-Frankivsk in Western Ukraine to meet with students at the National Technical University of Oil and Gas, Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, and the most popular youth place in the city, Urban Space.

Over cups of coffee at Urban Space, students learned about education opportunities in the US and interacted with local alumni of US universities. So many students came that Urban Space reached its maximum capacity for the day!

During an open mic session, Ukrainian alumni of US universities Viktor, Mariya, and Margaryta shared their experiences, accomplishments, and challenges while they pursued their education in the US Mariya is currently an Opportunity Program grantee applying to competitive MA and MBA programs in the US Along with the other alumni, she came to inspire other students to pursue their dreams of studying in the US

The next day, EducationUSA hosted walk-in office hours at Urban Space to answer questions regarding the US application process, review essays, and conduct mock interview sessions. The pop-up office hours were a success; a line of students were eager to ask questions and receive feedback from the EducationUSA advisors.
