American Councils operates in India by way of programs we administer at least six months of the year.
Currently, two programs of the US Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) bring American students to India: the NSLI-Y program for high school students, and the Critical Language Scholarship Program (CLS) for undergrad students. Both language immersion programs focus on Hindi, the most widely spoken language in India.
We often administer programs for youth citizens of India, typically in conjunction with the US Embassies. These are typically English-immersion "summer camp" style programs that focus on leadership, inclusion, and teambuilding.
Finally, our work in India supports the EducationUSA network, which offers US higher education institutes with recruitment and partnership tours throughout the country as well as guidance and resources to students seeking to pursue higher education study in the United States.
