Inaugural Global Citizens Awards

You're invited: dinner and reception honoring Senators Joni Ernst (R-IA) and Chris Van Hollen (D-MD)

Through our inaugural awards dinner this fall, American Councils will honor Senators Joni Ernst and Chris Van Hollen for their own experiences studying abroad and for the work they've done to champion study abroad programs.

In an increasingly globalized and interconnected world, study abroad should be seen as an integral part of our nation’s comprehensive education policy, as it has been proven to bolster workforce and economic competitiveness, and to support our national security interests.

This event comes at an important time for the United States to promote cultural exchange and dialogue. Today, American students that study abroad fail to mirror the diversity of the US at large. The proceeds raised from this dinner will be used to help change that through greater outreach to, and support for, traditionally underserved students.
