US Ambassador Patricia Haslach, Cultural Affairs Officer Learned Dees of the US Department of State, Peace Corps staff, and other local partners honored the Youth Solidarity and English Language (YSEL) Ethiopia participants at its recent closing ceremony. YSEL camp is a summer-camp style English immersion program that brings young students from all regions of Ethiopia for a month of learning new skills as well as about each other.

After a successful summer camp last year, the US Embassy in Addis Ababa has announced its renewed support of the Youth Solidarity and English Language (YSEL) program in Ethiopia. For this year's camp, 44 individuals were competitively selected from each of Ethiopia's 11 diverse regions.

American Councils adds Ethiopia to its list of countries with the start of the Youth Solidarity and English Language (YSEL) program. Based on the successful YSEL model for Afghan youth, American Councils looks forward to repeating that success with Ethiopian youth.
