Eurasian Regional Language Program (ERLP)

Eligibility:

Working professionals, graduate students, or advanced undergraduates who have completed two years of college-level study in the target language, Russian, or a language related to the target language are eligible to apply.

Academic Year, Semester, or Summer

Price:

Spring 2010: $12,100 PLUS airfare
Summer 2010: $4,900 PLUS airfare
Fall 2010: $12,100 PLUS airfare
Academic Year 2010-2011: $20,500 PLUS airfare

Substantial financial aid is available through American Councils for graduate students, faculty, and advanced undergraduates who wish to participate in this program; all financial aid applicants are considered for merit scholarships.

The American Councils Eurasian Regional Language program provides graduate students, advanced undergraduates, scholars, and working professionals intensive individualized instruction in the languages of Eurasia. Participants may in enroll in semester, academic year, or summer programs. All courses are conducted by expert faculty from leading local universities and educational institutions.

Recent participants have studied:

Azeri in Baku
Georgian and Chechen in Tbilisi
Kazakh in Almaty
Kyrgyz and Uzbek in Osh
Persian (Farsi/Tajiki/Dari) and Uzbek in Dushanbe
Ukrainian in Kyiv

Programs are also available for the study of Armenian, Buryat, Romanian, Tatar, Turkmen, Tuvan, and Yakut. Please note that some languages are offered in more than one country. (Students seeking to study languages not listed here should contact the American Councils outbound office.)
