• Be a U.S. citizen
• Be a full-time K-12 school employee in the U.S.
• Have a minimum of three years of experience (at time of application) as a department head of ESL/English, Science or Mathematics; a school principal, or assistant principal at the elementary, middle or secondary level.
• Be able to attend a program orientation in Washington, DC
• Be able to host administrative partner in home community and school (home stay) for two weeks
• Host a Thai language facilitator (interpreter) in home community and school (hotel) for two weeks
• Be able to travel to Thailand and complete full two-week program in Thailand
The Thailand Educator Exchange Program includes the hosting of a Thai partner for approximately two weeks in the Spring. The following Summer, US participants travel to Thailand to attend a pre-program orientation before a two-week exchange with their program partner.
This program is fully funded through the Bureau of Educational Affairs (ECA), U.S. Department of State. For U.S. educators, this grant includes international and domestic airfare; meals and/or per diem; a hosting stipend for the U.S. partner school; a shipping stipend; and housing and per diem for a Thai language facilitator.

2012/13 PROGRAM TIMELINE AND DETAILS
The Thailand Educator Exchange Program is a short-term, mutual exchange opportunity for U.S. and Thailand principals, administrators and teachers that is fully funded by the Bureau of Educational Affairs (ECA), U.S. Department of State. The program provides a professional development opportunity for U.S. and Thailand educators to work together on issues of mutual interest to their communities, schools and students.
Thai administrators spend three weeks with their U.S. partner during the fall and the U.S. administrators travel to Thailand the following summer. The programs are individualized through collaboration between partners and may focus on educational leadership, strategic planning, professional development for teachers, school and community relations, curriculum development and pedagogy, classroom management, teaching subject matter, volunteerism, and civic responsibility.
Applicants should be creative, self-reliant, flexible and able to maintain excellent relationships with faculty, staff, and students in Thailand. Applicants should have a sincere interest in learning from the experience of others and sharing best practices. Applicants should also be prepared to make presentations about the United States before diverse audiences in Thailand.
