• A BA or MA degree
• Be a full-time, US Elementary, Middle, or High School principal
• Participate in a pre-departure orientation in Washington, DC
• Attend program orientation in Sao Paulo and participate fully in the two week program
• Please note: Preference will be given to principals and schools who express a willingness to host a small group of Brazilian award-winning principals and an interpreter in late October/early November, 2010.
The Brazil Principal Exchange Program includes an orientation in Washington, DC followed by a two week exchange in Brazil. Principals will be expected to host their Brazilian partners for approximately two weeks in late October/early November 2010.
All travel and program expenses are supported by American Councils, through its grant with the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, US Department of State.

The 2010 Brazil Principal Exchange Program provides an opportunity for US principals to interact with award-winning Brazilian principals, administrators, teachers and students on an academic and cultural exchange, and to share American perspectives on school management.
The program is also designed to provide Brazilian administrators, teachers and students with the opportunity to learn more about the US, the US education system, teaching methodologies, culture and society, and to initiate collaborative projects with US partner schools and communities.
Strong candidates will demonstrate the willingness and ability to sensitively bridge cultural differences and should be willing to engage in school responsibilities and to make presentations at their host schools and other venues. Applicants should be creative, self-reliant, and able to maintain excellent relationships with faculty, staff, and students. Candidates should have a sincere interest in learning from the experience of others and sharing their own best practices.
