1 School Year
Check http://www.ac-see.org for updates on recruitment.
The program is funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau for Educational and Cultural Affairs.
The American Serbia and Montenegro Youth Leadership Exchange (A-SMYLE) Program was established in 2005 to create stronger linkages between the United States and its partner countries Serbia and Montenegro and to reach out to youth in the region. The program provides the opportunity for students, aged 15-17, to explore youth leadership, civic responsibility, community activism, democracy, and American society, as well as educate Americans about the countries of Serbia and Montenegro and their cultures.
The program provides scholarships for high school students to spend one academic year in the United States. The students live with American host families and attend U.S. high schools. Students take part in leadership development activities, civic education, and community service during the program and participate in alumni activities when they return home, applying their experiences in the United States to aid their local communities. Upon returning home, A-SMYLE participants engage their communities through alumni activities, sharing both American culture as well as the experiences they had and the information and skills they learned while in the United States.
Participants and alumni are encouraged to stay connected by visiting https://alumni.state.gov and http://connect.state.gov!
