Youth Exchange and Study Program: Afghanistan (YES:a)

Eligibility:

Secondary School Students from Afghansitan, aged 15 to 17

Length:

Selected students will initially pass a three week-long Pre-departure Orientation session and then fly to their host communities and high schools in the United States. The whole program duration takes about 11 months.

Youth Exchange and Study (YES) was established in October, 2002 and sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the US Department of State to provide scholarships for high school students (15-17 years) to spend up to one academic year in the U.S. The program is vital to expanding communication between the people of the United States and its partner countries in the program in order to promote mutual understanding and respect. Each fall, a team of expert recruiters will travel to different provinces of Afghanistan and recruit a group of 50 male and female students from various ethnic groups and backgrounds.
