TCLP Alumni Share Experience at Teaching Contest in China

03/20/12

When Zhu Qingpeng (2010) participated in the National English Teaching Skills Contest in Henan, China in November 2011, he not only walked away with a first prize honor, but also with the friendship of a new TCLP colleague. Sun Liang (2009) was also participating in the contest and ranked in the top place out of all the first prize winners!

Their hometown TCLP colleague, Zhang Hong (2009), was also in attendance to witness their success and even had her own stories of professional achievement to contribute. She was invited as one of only three teachers across China to give a model teaching presentation at the National Training Program for Top Senior High School English Teachers. These three TCLP teachers re-connected and reminisced over dinner together after the competition, talking about their TCLP experiences and where they are now. Zhu Qingpeng wrote: “Though it was my first time to see Sun Liang, we made friends the moment we saw each other. By the time we had to say goodbye, it seemed that we had long been old friends. TCLP is like a magical home, we feel the warmth and strength wherever we go.” Congratulations to all three teachers on their accomplishments. They have truly demonstrated how the TCLP experience can provide opportunities for continuous professional growth and friendships long after the one-year exchange is over.
