Six startups from Russia traveled to the Washington, D.C. region on April 4-17 as part of the U.S.-Russia Innovation Corridor (USRIC) program. The visit marks the fourth group of biotechnology startups to participate in the program since the Lobachevsky University of Nizhny Novgorod (UNN) and the University of Maryland (UMD) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to deepen ties between their respective universities in the biomedical industry in 2013.

AC will administer teacher training and student immersion programs this summer in Fairfax County, VA

With an eye toward increasing access to high quality foreign language programs in the greater DC/MD/VA area, American Councils will administer two STARTALK Discover Russian programs this summer: a two-week training track for teachers of Russian as well as a four-week immersion program for elementary school students. In fall 2013, as the new co-chairs of the U.S.-Russia Higher Education Working Group, Irina Arzhanova and I met at the National Training Foundation in Moscow to identify the greatest challenges facing U.S.-Russia cooperation in higher education.
