For the past six years, American Councils’ staff in Bosnia and Herzegovina have recruited and tested approximately 3,000 students for the YES program. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, the merit-based program provides scholarships for secondary school students (ages 15-17) from countries with significant Muslim populations to spend one academic year in the U.S to live with an American host family and attend high school.

In August 2014, American Councils Moldova signed a collaborative agreement with the State University of Moldova Law School, Anglophone Department to promote the Professional Fellows Program (PFP) and extend the collaboration to other academic exchanges.

Gayane Grigoryan, a JFDP alumna from Armenia, is encouraging Armenian youth with disabilities to participate in adaptive sports and recreational programs through the U.S.–Armenia Sports for Success program. This program is a partnership between Mobility International USA (MIUSA), Agate Center for Women with Special Needs in Gyumri, and the Pyunic Armenian Association for the Disabled in Yerevan.
