American Councils Links Russian Universities to US Universities, Companies & Capital

American Councils successfully hosted one of the largest events to connect Russian universities and technology with U.S. universities, companies and capital in Washington, DC on April 13th. The following videos were taken during the Forum, courtesy of Voice of America. These videos are in Russian, but a brief description of each video appears in English next to each link.

Video I
In this video, Dr. Igor Protsenko, a member of the visiting Russian delegation and Head of the Department of International Integration at the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, stressed that Russian and American universities have very similar tasks to undertake for a successful future. Dr. Protsenko emphasized that they both need to connect their universities with businesses, train the business specialists of the future, and develop public-private partnerships.



Video II
In this video, Michael Molitvin, Advisor to the Rector of St. Petersburg State University, notes that the quality of American universities and their top ranking in the global higher education system are the main reasons for Russian universities wanting to collaborate with the American institutions.



Video III
In this video, Herman Dyakonov, Rector of Kazan State Technological University, states that Russia's national research universities are eligible to receive funds from the Russian government to send their staff and students for further training at leading universities in the U.S. and around the world.



Video IV:
In this video, Dr. Dan E. Davidson, President of American Councils, comments on the significance of U.S.-Russian university collaboration. Dr. Davidson observes that, until recently, the relationship between American and Russian universities was mostly limited to professor and student exchange programs. He suggests that successful dialogue between the U.S. And Russian universities must include representatives from the national university associations in both countries, as well as the universities themselves.
