ECA State Alumni

The State Alumni web site is dedicated to alumni of the exchange and training programs funded by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs at the U.S. Department of State, and to the people who hosted them in the U.S.

State Alumni currently is open to:

  • Alumni from Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Georgia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia (FYROM), Moldova, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia and Montenegro, Slovakia, Slovenia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan;
  • Americans who participated in State Department-funded exchange programs to these countries;
  • Americans who hosted State Department-funded exchange participants from these countries.

Eventually State Alumni will be open to alumni of all ECA programs worldwide.


The State Alumni website requires that users register in order to log onto the site. State Alumni operates over a secure connection, so that all information that users exchange with the website is encrypted, prohibiting the theft of personal information.

State Alumni has the following features:

  • Calendar of upcoming alumni events
  • Job listings and career development information
  • Searchable database of alumni and host families who have registered at the site
  • Grant opportunity listings
  • Discussion forum
  • Alumni news
  • Feedback form/online survey
  • Photo gallery
  • Alumni ListServ

The emphasis in State Alumni is on users creating the content, so members are encouraged to provide calendar listings, job announcements, news, photos, and grant opportunities to the webmaster for posting. ECA also welcomes feedback from users in order to continuously improve the site.
