Folk Arts – Cultural Treasures Charter School
Philadelphia, PA

A K-8 educational vision for the future of our communities and children.

The Folk Arts - Cultural Treasures Charter School was founded by Asian Americans United in association with the Philadelphia Folklore Project. On March 9, 2005, our charter school was approved by the School Reform Commission. We opened our doors in September 2005. We began our third school year in September 2007 in a newly rehabbed building in Chinatown North.

FACTS is a dedicated team of visionaries, building a unique community - an arts-based charter school meeting the needs of a diverse student population. FACTS serves a multiracial citywide student body from grades kindergarten through seventh grade. (Gradually, we will increase grades yearly until we serve students from through eighth grade.)

What FACTS offers:

* nationally recognized curriculum program
* collaborative and collegial teaching and learning model
* commitment to arts education and the power of folk arts in the curriculum
* respect for the role of language and language diversity
* community - based learning environment
