Today marks a new quarter after the mid terms and at the same time marks the beginning of the end!!! Time flew away, who can believe that we are half way through the end of our program??
This shocking fact brought up a number of ideas to me, my students have a limited period of time now , we have to excel & do double what we have already done.
I had the most wonderful Thanks Giving vacation with my brother Mr Kamel & his hospitable host Geraldine. The time I spent with them was a most refreshing and power charging. We were thankful for the blessed friendship that we had and for the understanding that brought us together. I was thankful that i was surrounded by all the love and caring I could get.
All along our life path we meet people but those who make a difference in our life are the life time friends, I am thankful for having them.
This same experience was full of true friendship and support from my friends over here to taking me to the airport & back . I am thankful to all the love I am surrounded with.
Eid Adha
Muslims all over the world celebrate Aladha Feast which is the Eid of sacrifice & obedience. Muslims follow the steps of the Messenger Ibraham, who obeyed Allah's order when he had a vision that he must sacrifice his Son Jacob, who in turn answered " Do what ever you please with me father" Muslims go to Mecca,Saudi Arabia , for pilgrimage every year & on the 9th day of the Islamic month Zu Elhega , Muslims sacrifice and celebrate Eid.
True Friendship & Solidarity durin Eid
My Eid was special & what made it so is my friend Jo Anne who drove 7 long hours from OHio to PA to shar my feast with me & take me to my Eid prayer on Sunday.
That meant the world to me, she gave a memorable Eid, that i wont forget.
My New Orleans experience!
It was absolutely amazing. I met all my friends, I tightened the relationship with others, I cleared the air with another, I spoke out and I guess my power is on ;-)
It is just wonderful the feeling you get when you meet old faces and start talking, what a relief.
New Orleans unique features:
It is no doubt an old historical city that has its own features, the architecture, the food, the history, the style of living. It is my first time there & i think the choice of the place was a smart choice.
The most interesting thing i did was i went with my friends to watch the sunrise over the Mississippi river (OMG) also the steam boat Natchez was special with all the Egyptian and Chinese & American songs that we sang together, we definitely know how to have fun!
I introduced my students to their first Egyptian Cuisine Experience !
I organized a cooking class with the homec teacher at the high school. I chose one of the most famous dishes in the Egyptian Cuisine: Falafel! I printed the ingredients and recipe and distributed it among the students to check if they are allergic to any of the components .Then we went to the school kitchen & actually prepared it from scratch the students loved it . the whole school were wondering what is this awesome smell coming from ?? Now I have to invite everybody & cook more often at school ;-)
