What happened recently

It's been a while since my lost my voice last week. I might be the first one to go to see doctor in America.Luckily I am getting better and better after taking the pills given by the doctor. I do feel a strong trust in American doctors. They are amazing.

I have already taught in Oakland Elementary School. The kids love my Chinese class and feel so excited about learning Chinese. I got 9 classes from the kindergarten to 5th grade in the elementary school which i didnt expect. Another thing i didnt expect is that in Sunnyside Middle School there are more than 100 students who signed up for Chinese class but they only allowed 3 classes which have 60 students in total, so they need some time to select the qualified students and then my class in Sunnyside will start next week. I am happy about so many kids loving learning Chinese.

So I have 12 classes and more than 250 students in both Schools. I have classes every other day in each school and 5 periods on Friday in both schools, but I live kinda far from both schools .The transportation is a problem especially in winter. I heard it's freezing cold here. Maybe I should think of buying a car for my work. At the very beginning, I was told to teach only in Sunnyside 6th grade, but now I got more work in the other elementary school, it is 6 grades in 2 different schools .

Last week, we have contacted Professor Hong Wei , director of Confucius Institute in Purdue University. She is a great lady. She showed us around Purdue and offered us many useful teaching materials. Besides, she treated us to a great dinner in a Chinese restaurant. We had a great time together. Oh, my mentor took us to attend a global fest in Purdue university . We explored a lot of different cultures and tried kinds of food. Last Saturday we went to a Germany Festival held in downtown. It's said that 4000 people joined the festival last year. We met many new friends and enjoy the music and dance there.

This week I will go to Indianapolis to attend a Chinese Teacher's workshop from Thur to Sat. together with other 2 Chinese teachers from Hanban. That 's a good chance for us to learn more about teaching Chinese.
